Sony Xperia Z2 Concept

Sony is planning to launch a new refreshed flagship code named "Sirius" in next month at MWC 2014. The leaked images and UI shows Sony is improved a lot in few areas, specially the display. We starting to see Sony is using IPS panels for the new flagships which is good news for Sony fans since they were having issues with viewing angle. For some reasons i don't think Sony will name this D6503 "Sirius" as Xperia Z2, So my concept is about the H2 flagship of Sony which is usually unveiled at IFA  around September. Xperia Z2 is a fresh flagship that makes Sony to get close to that "One Sony" strategy.

Xperia Z2 features a 5.25" 2K (1440x2560) resolution screen with a 560 ppi pixel density. The screen technology used for the concept is IPS Triluminos along with the Sony's picture engine X-Reality for Mobile. Screen is protected by a shatterproof sheet baked on to a gorilla glass 3. It's a fact that human eye can't differentiate pixel densities over 320ppi from a normal viewing distance, so why we need a 2K screen on a smartphone? Few factors have to be concerned, since the device is capable of 4K video record and playback, it helps to render the video more easily on a 2K screen. other factor is the Competition in the Market. Some folks want the best of available hardware on their phone despite the  battery consumption. It's true 2K screen will suck the battery juice more quickly when compared to a similar size 1080p screen. finally i have decide to go with a 2K screen although 1080p is enough for my personal taste.

Xperia Active+ Concept

Xperia Active+ is designed to follow up the Xperia rugged phones lineup, as the successor of Xperia go. no much to say about this concept just enjoy.

The phone features a 3.5" IPS display with a resolution of 480x854 resulting a 280ppi pixel density. The Screen is protected by the Corning's latest product which they introduced at CES 2014, the Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass. This germ eliminating screen protector is ideal for the outside usage.
Xperia Active+ is a shockproof handset, it can bare the impacts from 5 Feets, therefore the edges of the device is made by impact resistant special rubbery materiel. The internal circuits and electronic compounds are protected by a liquid repellent nano coating technology.
IP 67 dust and water resistant certified Xperia Active+ can stay under water for 30 mins at a depth of 3.2 Feets. It also has the ability to function in extreme weather conditions with temperatures between -25 Celsius to 55 Celsius. the Glove mode is enabled in the device allowing user to use the display in cold conditions.

Why i want to have a Xperia Z1 Compact

We all like to a have a flagship smartphone in our life. But the problem is most OEMs made their flagship devices from 5" to 5.5" or more..This is a sad news for the people who likes to have a small premium pocket friendly phone with easy one handed use. I'm currently using a Xperia L and i have found out that, the 4.3" screen of it is the best size for me to swipe my fingers to each edge of the screen without using the other hand. From that moment i always wanted a 4.3" flagship as my next phone. Most mini phones haven't gave us the expected flagship hardware. Take Galaxy S4 mini and HTC One mini for example. All they had is midrange hardware under the flagship name. But things have been changed since yesterday after the Sony's new Xperia Announcement.

CES Las Vegas is always a best place for Sony to show off their latest technologies for the year and yesterday in CES 2014 at Sony's press event they have unveiled the long waited miniature version of the current flagship Xperia Z1, The Xperia Z1 Compact. All the power of Z1 in a smaller dimension.

Talking about the specifications Xperia Z1 Compact features the same hardware of big brother Z1 except a smaller battery yet the biggest in it's class and a HD 4.3" screen instead of 5" FHD. Snapdragon 800 chipset with quad krait 400 cores and Adreno 330 GPU will take care all your heavy processing and graphics while 2GB of RAM keeps the device calm and smooth. 20.7MP Sony G-lens module with Exmor RS 1/2.3 image sensor is present to take high quality images as well as to take snaps under water. From Software side Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will run out of the box and Sony promised for a kitkat update soon after the market release. Those are basic and most attractive specs of this little beast and now lets see the points why it's good for some one like me , who's expecting a compact size Android all rounder.

Sony Xperia Honami Concept

Few days ago we heard the rumor about a upcoming Sony flagship device which is known as "Xperia Honami". There was another rumored model "Xperia Togari" a 6.4" phablet to come out in the 2nd half of 2013. Sony also introduced a new Series of product lineup named "One Sony" where people can get the best out of Sony's latest technologies in a single product. The Xperia Honami is expected to follow up the One Sony line.
The Concept here i made is based on some rumored specifications and some of my own guessed hardware features. Xperia Honami is the competitor of HTC one and Samsung Galaxy S4. Some users are not quite satisfied with the screen quality of Xperia Z, but the successor to the glassy giant, Xperia Honami is based on  a different screen technology and more tougher materials.Introducing Xperia Honami.

The front side of the phone is covered by a Sapphire cover glass, simply the toughest materiel a smartphone manufacturer can use since it's second to diamond in toughness. Aluminium Oxide compounds on the cover gives ultra toughness and scratch resistance to the device. At the bottom ,we can see a long grill for liquid magnetic speakers. Honami is similar to the Xperia ZL by covering a large amount of area for the display. Here we are dealing with a 5" edge to edge 1080p Trilunimos screen. With this, the panel could produce more natural colors by placing a filter between the white LED and the panel converting it to RGB lighting. It uses the highest color spectrum on a screen.

Sony Xperia Pro X Concept with Secondary Tactus Display

There are people who still loves to have a physical keypad on there Smartphone. With the large number of new brands and models coming to market, physical QWERTY keypads are getting far from the mobile devices. Touch screen era has just started. For some reasons typing on a touch screen isn't that comfortable as in a physical keypad. Tactus, a screen manufacture already looking for an answer to this problem. Finally they have introduced a touch screen that pops out it buttons from the screen. hard to believe? check out the video at the end of this post.
The Sony Xperia Pro X concept is inspired by the Tactus technology and i want to give a solution for physical keypad and gamepad lovers. CES 2013 ended up with new hopes for future technology. Xperia Pro X features some great specs which are introduced at CES this year.

Starting from the front side, It's the new Sony look with rectangular design we saw in Xperia Z and ZL. I really loved it due to less bezel used. Sony engineers claims that many people tend to show their face adjust to bottom of the screen when do a video conference call. So placing the front camera at the bottom seems odd but it has good advantages. Only differences i made were placing a small microphone middle of the bottom and moving the LED notification light to top.

Sony Xperia Walkman Concept for Music Lovers

Sony is well known company for their crisp displays and audio quality. Since they have started manufacturing smartphones, thousands of Sony fans got the chance to put their best music and audio in to there pockets. Sony Ericsson Walkman series was the most popular among the music lovers. But after the change of name "Sony Ericsson" to "Sony" the Walkman series was also sent to the grave along with the "Ericsson" part. It's sad to see Sony didn't made a special phone with high end music capabilities for music lovers out there. Although most high end Sony handsets features a great music enhancements, there could be people who doesn't like to own a high end device. The Xperia Walkman Concept is just for the people who worship Music.

Music playback and the quality is a key factor to consider about when buying a new smartphone. Many people tend to leave this factor if planning to buy a Sony device. It's quite ok ,as Sony already crowned in the music industry. Other Companies like Samsung, Nokia and HTC also joined the competition recently but only Samsung went ahead by introducing "Galaxy Music", the small handset with great music and audio standards.
So i have designed this Walkman handset to show how cool it would be if Sony managed to give us a "music only" phone.

The concept has the traditional Sony design with glossy plastic along with the new round side buttons which Sony introduced with Xperia E. No physical capacitive keys on the front, just the screen has occupied most of the front area with front facing camera, sensors and the Xperia branding at the bottom. Top of the device is sloped to front side just like in Xperia T and J and you can see a 3.5mm audio port and a speaker grill besides in the middle.

Sony Xperia Yuga Concept

As a Sony Mobile fan, i love making concepts under their branding. This time i made a concept for upcoming  Xperia "Yuga" flagship. If you are a good mobile tech fan,you might seen the leaked images of Xperia Yuga couple of weeks ago, the flagship has the code name C6603 and looks very slim. What i imagined is little bit different from the leaked images and totally fresh design which is bit similar to Xperia S from design.check it out !
The concept has almost all the sony technologies and compete with the high end "phablets" like Samsung Galaxy Note II and HTC Droid DNA. What's interesting in this concept is it features a 13 Mega Pixel Exmor RS sensor with 1080p HDR video recording. sony announced the Exmor RS mobile sensors last august and i thought adding a one might look handy. we all know Sony is leading companies with imaging devices and lenses. So! lets see the full specification list.

Sony Xperia W Concept by me

With the official launch of Microsoft Windows Phone 8 yesterday, i thought to make a smartphone concept that powered by the new Windows Phone 8. We haven't seen a Sony made Windows Phone device as Sony keep Android as there OS partner. But what if Sony's awesome hardware powered by Windows Phone 8 ? That's what came to my mind. Introducing Sony Xperia W, Quad Core smartphone.

I used the Sony's latest mobile designs to make the concept.on the front side it's bit similar to Xperia T. Compact design is the main attraction of Sony devices.so i also want to give the same attraction to Xperia W .you can see the detailed specifications below.

Sony releases Android 4.0.3 beta ROM for limited Xperia devices

Sony Mobile has released a beta of the Android 4.0.3 ROM for certain Xperia handsets. These include the Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray. Compared to the alpha ROM released back in December, the beta enables GSM radio and FM radio functionalities, which means you can make and receive calls and browse the web. However, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionalities are still unavailable.

The new beta ROM includes features such as the new lockscreen, which includes the ability to control the music player and launching the camera. Sony will also include the face unlock feature found on the Galaxy Nexus in the final version, but it is currently unavailable. Other new features include the ability to bring up a list of messages that you can send after you decline a call and a new dialler app which features the highly useful quick dial mode.
Apart from this you get the usual Ice Cream Sandwich goodies, such as the new multi-tasking view and notification screen where you can use the swipe gesture to remove items from the screen. The beta ROM does not include the usual Google applications, however, such as Gmail, Google Maps, Android Market, etc. but they will obviously be added in the final version.
The ROM is now available for download on Sony's website but before you go ahead and download it do keep in mind all the limitations of the current ROM mentioned above. There are also some issues, such as having to unlock the bootloader, which means you won't be able to download the final version when it comes out a couple of months later. So make sure you go through all the warnings and instructions in the source link below before you install it on your phone.
