Xperia Active+ is a shockproof handset, it can bare the impacts from 5 Feets, therefore the edges of the device is made by impact resistant special rubbery materiel. The internal circuits and electronic compounds are protected by a liquid repellent nano coating technology.
IP 67 dust and water resistant certified Xperia Active+ can stay under water for 30 mins at a depth of 3.2 Feets. It also has the ability to function in extreme weather conditions with temperatures between -25 Celsius to 55 Celsius. the Glove mode is enabled in the device allowing user to use the display in cold conditions.
Under the hood there is a Snapdragon S4 plus 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor+ Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM to deliver decent performance. Although there is 8GB internal memory ,users can access only 5.8GB for apps and media. don't worry, the handset supports micro SD external storage up to 32GB. On the rear side the 8.0 Mega Pixel Exmor RS camera along with the powerful 3 LED flasher will deliver a great imaging experience. Since the phone is specially made for outside usage, the three LED flasher is can be used as a flashlight in low light conditions. All of these hardware are powered by a long lasting 2300mAh Li-ion battery. on Software side Xperia Active+ is running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box
From connectivity side ,Xperia Active+ features Bluetooth 4.0, GPS ,Wi-Fi and DLNA,
The handset features a 100dB loudspeaker on bottom and certified for military use as well.
Hope sony will come up with a good rugged phone this year as lot people are waiting for an upgrade from their Xperia go/Active
